Measure your favourite garments, don't measure your body.
We have created many thousands of custom made pieces for our clients over the past few decades. Our experience has told us that the best way for us to get this right the first time is to take your garment measurements.
The measurements below refer to your jacket. Measure your favourite jacket and compare to find your best size. Alternatively, order custom made and send us your favourite jacket's measurements, we will make you a personalised fitted piece.
For those that are already our clients, we will have your custom sizing stored in our records. Select "Custom Tailored' with confidence and we will take care of the rest.
For those who are new to Joe Bananas, we will custom make the jacket of your choice. Once you purchase we will be in touch with instructions on how to measure yourself so that we can tailor your piece with a personalised fit.
Nestled in the central highlands of Tasmania, Cradle Mountain rises majestically above Dove Lake, its rugged peaks glistening in the winter sun as a dusting of ice and snow transforms the landscape into a scene of breathtaking beauty. Named for its resemblance to a gold mining cradle, this mountain is a symbol of enduring natural grandeur.
Inspired by the crisp air and icy caps of this iconic Tasmanian peak, the Cradle Mountain Raw Silk Jacket is woven in a mid-weight herringbone weave, providing a structured, robust layer ideal for cooler climates. While this jacket is far too good to wear on an alpine ascent, it’s perfectly at home by the fire at The Cradle Mountain Lodge, a whisky in hand, warmth radiating from the hearth.
A piece for those who appreciate understated luxury, this jacket effortlessly bridges the gap between rugged elegance and refined comfort.
HOW TO WEAR IT
Dress It Up – Pair with stone, oatmeal, or charcoal trousers, a navy shirt, brown belt, and brown boots for a polished winter look.
Dress It Down – Keep it relaxed with navy or pale-blue chinos, or your favourite dad-denim jeans (you know the ones). A blue tee or polo completes the effortless style—nothing too fancy on your feet required.
CURIOUS FACT:
Cradle Mountain is named for its similarity to a gold mining cradle, the traditional device used to sift gold from alluvial soils—a nod to Tasmania’s rich mining history.
LIMITED HANDWOVEN EDITION
Handwoven over 200-300 days, with only 8-10 jackets per weave, this piece is as rare and enduring as the peak it is named after.
Handwoven raw silk – a mid-weight herringbone weave for warmth and structure.
Icy blues, earthy greys, and subtle stone tones – reflecting the frost-kissed mountain top.
A timeless alpine-inspired statement – luxurious, versatile, and effortlessly stylish.
Like Cradle Mountain, this jacket is rugged, refined, and utterly unforgettable. Extremely limited—secure yours before it disappears into the mist.

great quality shirt
High quality fabric and construction. I get lots of compliments on this shirt. Fits on the large side; I'm usually a medium, but the small fits me well.
Belle Peinture in French, Beautiful Painting in English.
Have you’ve ever been to Giverny and explored Monet’s home, gardens and the luscious surroundings of Normandy? This shirt’s luxuriously soft cotton & print is the epitome of all things Monet, like shouting out “I love Monet” from those acute pitched rooftops which invokes all your senses by wearing a Monet painting.
This is just another statement piece from Joe Bananas, you’d be bananas not to put it on your back!
Love this shirt. I wish I’d purchased more, but it was our final day before heading back to the UK, and I didn’t want to get something that wasn’t right. But in reality, I should have purchased a selection of colours. I can happily say this is currently my go-to shirt. Great quality and fit.
This shirt will wear soft and get ever more comfortable as it ages.
Absolutely delighted with it, and pleased to be wearing a garment made and assembled entirely in Oz.
The title says it all, it’s a classy custom made jacket which fits me extremely well. The caramel colour is very nice I couldn’t really ask for better,
I had no intention of buying chinos when I entered the Joe Bananas store. I was looking at shirts. I bought a shirt and then cast my eyes around other things in the store.
I spotted these chinos, they matched the shirt perfectly so I bought them. Like other chinos from JB they fit perfectly. The colour is not quite what I would have thought that I liked before I bought them. I now think it is a great colour.
The best thing about wearing these chinos is that a random pass by commented “great daks mate” Nothing more needs to be said about how great they are.
I spotted this shirt on the rack. It jumped out at me. I took it off the rack. Almost immediately I bought it in my correct size. I love it as it is quintessentially Joe Bananas.
The greatest praise I can give is that when wearing it Random people have said “great shirt mate” Nothing more needs to be said.
For a plain shirt, this well-designed shirt is deceptively elegant. The interesting colour (which the photo does not really convey) makes it versatile for matching with many different trousers or shorts.
