Description
In September 1967, John Lennon received a letter from a teacher working at his alma mater in Liverpool, Quarry Bank High School, explaining how the children in his class had been tasked to analyse and comprehend lyrics of Beatles’ songs. Although impressed, the fact also inspired Lennon to compose a song in which the lyrics would be intentionally impossible to decipher: I am the Walrus. At the conclusion of each chorus, Lennon sings with vigour
“I am the egg man
They are the egg men
I am the walrus
Goo goo g’joob”
The song appeared first in the television film, Magical Mystery Tour and as the B-Side to Hello Goodbye, on a Double EP which would hold both first and second place on British Singles Charts in December 1967. This Jacket is Joe Bananas’ Magical Mystery Tour!
