Description
In September 2009, Sydney was enveloped by a dust storm, classed as the worst the state of New South Wales had experienced in almost 70 years. The dust is believed to have originated from far-western New South Wales and north-east South Australia, carried towards the coast by strong, westerly winds. Blanketing the harbour city in plumes of red dust, Sydney was left resembling our neighbouring planet of Mars instead of its usual sparkling self.
The 'Sydney Dust Storm Paperbark' Raw Silk Jacket is graciously inspired by this natural event. The red ochre tones of silk are highlighted by the vertical paperbark weave, which gives the fabric a subtle sheen. It is a strong addition to any wardrobe.
