Description
Manna gum (Eucalyptus viminalis) is an Australian eucalypt. Also known as ribbon gum, white gum, or viminalis, it is a straight erect tree, often around 130 feet (40 metres) tall, with rough bark on the trunk and base of larger branches. Its upper bark peels away in long "ribbons" which can collect on the branches and surrounding ground.
Widely distributed in the cooler areas of Australia where the leaves are the favoured food of koalas, and its sap is a vital energy source for arboreal or tree dwelling marsupial mammals like yellow-bellied, sugar and other gliders.
ThecManna Gum Handwoven Raw Silk jacket draws upon the cool hues of this striking eucalypt, weaving blue and white silk in a stringybark weave to echo the blue-hue of the leaves and the long bark ribbons that peel away from these statuesque trees. A classic look with a distinguished twist.
