Description
Not far from Alice, in Australia's NT, lies one of this land’s most incredible hidden gems, Rainbow Valley. The light, particularly at sunset of the golden Sandstone and dessert earth of this ancient ground provided inspiration for this stunning weave. Known are 'Wurre' by the local Indigenous custodians of the land, Rainbow Valley holds secrets of the rich history of the land in with over 40 archaeological sites including a range of petroglyphs and pictographs. The sandstone bluff which is Rainbow Valley, contains a mix of Hermannsburg and Mereenie sandstone which formed in a much wetter period of time and caused the redder iron rich sandstone to stain the rock and create the unique patterns which inspire this weave.
